CLASS: Empowering Justice, Transforming Lives in Liberia

At the CENTER FOR LEGAL AID SUPPORT SERVICES (CLASS), we firmly believe that justice should be accessible to everyone, not just a privileged few. Since our inception in January 2020, we have dedicated ourselves to providing vital legal support, education, and advocacy to those who need it the most. In Liberia, many people face legal challenges without the means to access representation or even understand their rights. CLASS exists to fill this critical gap, ensuring that individuals who are marginalized or indigent have a voice and the resources to fight for their justice.

Our mission at CLASS is to make a lasting impact on individuals and communities by providing free legal aid, courtroom representation, and public legal education. We are more than a traditional legal aid provider—we act as a bridge between the justice system and those who are disadvantaged. By focusing not only on resolving legal issues but also on educating people about their rights and how to protect them, we empower individuals to make informed choices. This holistic approach is what makes CLASS unique and effective in addressing the root causes of injustice in Liberia.

Since our founding, we have made significant strides in transforming lives across Liberia. Through our legal literacy programs, we hold workshops and seminars aimed at educating individuals about the legal system, their rights, and the procedures they need to understand to defend themselves in court. These programs are crucial because they give people the knowledge and confidence to navigate complex legal issues that may otherwise seem insurmountable. By empowering individuals with this knowledge, we help them stand up for their rights and prevent future injustices.

Our impact goes beyond legal education. As strong advocates for human rights, we provide direct legal representation to victims of human trafficking, forced labor, domestic violence, and other forms of abuse. We believe that these individuals deserve justice and dignity, and we work tirelessly to ensure their voices are heard in court. Our advocacy efforts have helped countless victims not only secure legal victories but also regain their sense of worth and hope for the future.

In addition to our legal services, we play a vital role in conflict resolution and peacebuilding in Liberian communities. Many disputes in our society have the potential to escalate into violence, and our intervention through mediation and conflict resolution has prevented such outcomes. Our training programs equip individuals with critical skills in peacebuilding and human rights, fostering a culture of dialogue and non-violence. This work is essential in creating more peaceful and harmonious communities, where individuals can resolve their differences without resorting to conflict.

Community development is another core element of our work. Through our family life education programs, we educate people about family law, marriage, and building strong homes. By helping families understand their legal rights and responsibilities, we are contributing to the development of healthier and more resilient communities, which are the foundation of a thriving society. When families are empowered with knowledge, they can better navigate legal challenges, protect themselves, and contribute positively to the community around them.

At CLASS, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of transparency and accountability. We recognize that every donation, every hour volunteered, and every partnership is an investment in justice. That is why we ensure that our supporters are regularly updated on the progress of our projects and initiatives. Whether it’s a case update or the success of a community workshop, we make it a point to share the tangible impact of our work. This commitment to transparency allows our supporters to see how their contributions are making a real difference in the lives of those we serve.

The challenges we face in Liberia are vast, but the progress we have made is a testament to the power of collective action. CLASS is not just an organization—it is a movement for justice, equity, and empowerment. By providing legal aid, advocating for human rights, and educating individuals and communities, we are transforming society from the ground up.

We invite you to be a part of this journey. Whether you support us through donations, volunteer your time, or simply help spread the word about our work, your involvement will make a meaningful difference. Together, we can build a fairer and more just society for everyone in Liberia.
